Rep. Chris Smith: No More Free Pass for Hanoi

Bill Laurie:  We'll have to see what, if anything, happens.   For the past three decades the supposed-to-be U.S. State Department has "expressed deep concern" (!!!) over Hanoi's abundant human rights violations, and nothing else happens.   Hanoi knows U.S. is spineless and  won't do anything so "expressions of deep concern" don't mean a bloody damn thing.
Rep. Chris Smith is one of the very few elected things having the integrity and character to condemn Hanoi's barbarian conduct.

Last year Rep. Smith invited Vu Minh Khanh, wife of still-detained democracy activist Nguyen Van Dai, to testify before his committee.   Here is entire one-hour testimony.    This took place while John Kerry was Secretary of State.   He was not in attendance.
