Young students from Van Lang Vietnamese Language School handwrote thank-you cards to individual veterans – a powerful gesture of respect and remembrance passed down to the next generation.
Vào Thứ Hai, ngày 11 tháng 11, anh em cựu chiến binh Mỹ thuộc Chapter 472 đã tập trung tại Viện Bảo Tàng Chiến Tranh trong công viên Balboa để trang trí chiếc xe trolley, chuẩn bị tham gia cuộc diễn hành nhân Ngày Cựu Chiến Binh (Veterans Day) tại khu vực Downtown San Diego.
Không khí trở nên sôi động và tràn đầy khí thế khi chiếc trolley đến điểm tập kết cho lễ diễn hành. Như thường lệ hàng năm, Cộng Đồng Người Việt tại San Diego cũng tích cực tham gia sự kiện đầy ý nghĩa này. Lá cờ vàng ba sọc đỏ – biểu tượng của tự do và tinh thần bất khuất – được một cựu quân nhân Hải quân Việt Nam Cộng Hòa cầm phất phới, nổi bật giữa dòng người tham dự.
Do đa số các cựu chiến binh nay đã lớn tuổi, chỉ một số ít có thể cùng Chủ tịch Cộng Đồng – cô Kim Trang – đi bộ dẫn đầu trước chiếc trolley. Tuy nhiên, tinh thần và lòng tự hào của họ vẫn mãnh liệt như ngày nào.
Nhiều cựu chiến binh Việt Nam không giấu được sự xúc động khi nghe người dân San Diego đứng bên đường hô vang: “Thank you!” và “Welcome home!” – những lời chào đón nồng ấm mà họ đã không có được khi trở về từ chiến trường cách đây hơn 50 năm.

Vietnamese American Community of San Diego Joins 2025 Veterans Day Parade
San Diego, Monday, November 11, 2025 – On a day of honor and remembrance, members of Veterans Chapter 472 gathered early at the Veterans Museum in Balboa Park to decorate a trolley in preparation for the annual Veterans Day Parade through Downtown San Diego.
Excitement filled the air as the trolley made its way toward the parade staging area. Lining the streets, thousands of spectators waved flags and called out heartfelt messages like “Thank you!” and Welcome home! – words that many veterans had never heard when they first returned from war over 50 years ago.
As in years past, the Vietnamese American Community of San Diego proudly took part in this meaningful event. The yellow flag with three red stripes, symbolizing freedom and resilience, was held high by a former officer of the Republic of Vietnam Navy, standing out boldly among the parade.
Despite their age, several Viet Veterans of Chapter 472 and Vietnamese veterans walked alongside the trolley, led by Community President Kim Trang Dang, demonstrating unwavering pride and strength.

This year’s parade also included participation from groups like the Korean Veterans Association of San Diego, historical re-enactors dressed in Revolutionary War uniforms, and many civic organizations. The diversity of participants showcased the shared value of national service beyond borders and backgrounds.
