Ngoài nhiệm vụ hoat động trong đội hình hộ tống và tác chiến trong lực lượng đặc nhiệm 70/Liên đoàn 5 Hàng không mẩu hạm. Khu trục hạm USS USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) đã từng thực hiện các nhiệm vụ hoạt động tự do hàng hải tại eo biển Đài Loan và khu vực quần đảo Hoàng Sa được ghi nhận.

Trong hải đội khu trục hạm 15, Đệ thất hạm đội có nữ HQ trung tá Diane S. Cua (gốc Á Châu) làm hạm trưởng khu trục hạm USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54).HQ trung tá Diane S. Cua quê quán tại California San Diego, cô thụ huấn và tốt nghiệp tại các trường sĩ quan hải quân Officer Candidate School (OCS), Naval Post Graduate School và U.S. Naval War College. Và hoàn tất các văn bằng cử nhân khoa học vi sinh; Văn bằng cao học an ninh quốc gia tại trường hậu hải quân Hoa Kỳ (Naval Post Graduate School); Văn bằng cao học an ninh quốc gia và chiến lược học tại trường cao đẳng hải chiến hải quân Hoa Kỳ (U.S. Naval War College).

Sau khi thụ huấn và tốt nghiệp trường sĩ quan hải quân OCS, HQ trung tá Diane S. Cua đã được thuyên chuyển và phục vụ trên các chiến hạm USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62); USS Stethem (DDG 63); USS Shiloh (CG 67); Và được bỗ nhiệm làm hạm phó khu trục hạm USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) từ tháng 5 năm 2018 đến tháng 9 năm 2019. Sau đó nhiệm kỳ hạm phó, cô được bỗ nhiệm làm hạm trường từ tháng 10 năm 2019 cho đến nay.

Trong suốt thời gian phục vụ trong hải quân Hoa Kỳ, HQ trung tá Diane S. Cua đã được ân thưởng các loại huy chương cao quý như: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 huy chương); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 huy chương), và multiple unit and service awards.

U.S. vows second warship for Philippines

Clinton assured the Philippine military of intensified U.S. assistance Wednesday when the allies marked the 60th anniversary of the signing of their Mutual Defense Treaty aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer in Manila.

Questions & Answers_Bill Laurie

Will be speaking to college VN class this week. They've already submitted 17 questions, answers to which I've since emailed back to their instructor, a USAF VN veteran with history Ph.D. The presentation will touch on some of these topics and issues but will include much more than contained in these answers. Here are the questions and answers..... 1. What do you feel the television media effects were on not only the soldiers, but the Vietnamese people as well? It's arguable that television/media coverage had little direct effect on troops, and less so on Viet Namese people, because they didn't see much of it. It had a huge cumulative indirect effect on both because "news"(?), shallow and biased as it was, did effect people in U.S., both amongst general public and elected officials and decision makers. The effect was detrimental.
