ANH ĐIỀU TÀU CHIẾN TỐI TÂN ĐẾN VÙNG VỊNH OMAN.

Tờ Telegraph  cho biết, Anh sẽ điều động  tàu chiến lớn nhất của mình HMS Caring tới vùng Vịnh Oman trong bối cảnh căng thẳng đang leo thang tại khu vực có tầm quan trọng sống còn về chiến lược này.
 


   Theo kế hoạch, Anh sẽ điều động  tàu khu trục Type 45 mang tên HMS Daring, vừa được trang bị kỹ thuật mới, có khả năng bắn hạ mọi hoả tiển  phóng đi từ Iran. Tàu khu trục trị giá 1 tỷ Bảng này, được trang bị hệ thống rađa hải quân tối tân  nhất thế giới hiện nay, có khả năng theo dõi đa dạng các mối đe dọa từ hoả tiển  và máy bay phản lực cùng lúc, sẽ rời cảng Portsmouth vào ngày 11/1 tới khu vực nóng bỏng này.
 
Tàu HMS Daring(32), nặng 8.000 tấn, với 190 thủy thủ, sẽ đi qua kênh đào Suez và tới vùng Vịnh vào cuối tháng Giêng để thay thế tàu khu trục nhỏ Type 23 đang đóng tại đây

 Một nguồn tin từ Hải quân Hoàng gia Anh cho tờ "Điện tín" biết Anh có thể sẽ triển khai thêm tàu chiến tới vùng Vịnh nếu được yêu cầu. Tàu khu trục Type 45 thứ hai mang tên HMS Dauntless(33) đã được đặt trong tình trạng sẵn sàng.

Questions & Answers_Bill Laurie

Will be speaking to college VN class this week.  They've already submitted 17 questions, answers to which I've since emailed back to their instructor, a USAF VN veteran with history Ph.D.  The presentation will touch on some of these topics and issues but will include much more than contained in these answers.  Here are the questions and answers..... 1. What do you feel the television media effects were on not only the soldiers, but the Vietnamese people as well? It's arguable that television/media coverage had little direct effect on troops, and less so on Viet Namese people, because they didn't see much of it.  It had a huge cumulative indirect effect on both because "news"(?), shallow and biased as it was, did effect people in U.S., both amongst general public and elected officials and decision makers.  The effect was detrimental.
