Go-Viet Lên Tiếng về Ứng Dụng Không có ‘Hoàng Sa, Trường Sa’ RFA

Khách hàng sử dụng ứng dụng gọi xe Go-Viet phát hiện ứng dụng này trong hai ngày 20 và 21/11 đã không cho phép hiển thị và gõ cụm từ ‘Hoàng Sa, Trường Sa’, là 2 quần đảo ở Biển Đông mà Việt Nam đòi chủ quyền, đồng thời hình ảnh hai quần đảo này đã bị xóa khỏi bản đồ của ứng dụng.
Báo trong nước loan tin hôm 22/11 cho biết vào cùng ngày, đơn vị phát triển ứng dụng Go-Viet là Công ty TNHH Thương mại Go-Viet đã phát đi thông cáo giải thích nguyên nhân vì đơn vị này sử dụng nền tảng bản đồ và hệ thống lưu trữ giữ online của Google (Google Maps và Google Cloud).

Go-Viet nói trong quá trình nâng cấp ứng dụng vào hai ngày 20 và 21, các địa danh tự nhiên bao gồm đảo, sông, núi được Google Maps đánh dấu bằng mật mã khiến xảy ra lỗi ở một số máy. Go-Viet khẳng định máy của các tài xế không bị ảnh hưởng.

Công ty phát triển ứng dụng Go-Viet cho biết đội ngũ kỹ thuật của đơn vị này đã hoàn thành việc khắc phục sự cố hiển thị chú thích bản đồ trên app dành cho người dùng vào sáng ngày 22.

Theo Go-Viet, khoảng 20% người dùng phiên bản Android được tự động cập nhật phiên bản mới, bản dành cho Iphone sẽ được cập nhật đến người dùng trong vòng 1 đến 3 ngày nữa sau khi Apple Store duyệt bản vừa được Go-Viet chỉnh sửa.

Trong thông cáo báo chí, Go-Viet cũng gửi lời xin lỗi về sự cố hiển thị này, đồng thời khẳng định và cam kết rằng các sự cố liên quan đến việc cập nhật, nâng cấp app không liên quan đến các vấn đề biển, đảo của Việt Nam.

Questions & Answers_Bill Laurie

Will be speaking to college VN class this week.  They've already submitted 17 questions, answers to which I've since emailed back to their instructor, a USAF VN veteran with history Ph.D.  The presentation will touch on some of these topics and issues but will include much more than contained in these answers.  Here are the questions and answers..... 1. What do you feel the television media effects were on not only the soldiers, but the Vietnamese people as well? It's arguable that television/media coverage had little direct effect on troops, and less so on Viet Namese people, because they didn't see much of it.  It had a huge cumulative indirect effect on both because "news"(?), shallow and biased as it was, did effect people in U.S., both amongst general public and elected officials and decision makers.  The effect was detrimental.
